|
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tokyo – March 14, 2003 -- International Systems Research Co. (ISR), leader in the development of advanced mobile data technologies, today released Version 1.1 of its PPPush WakeOnRing mobile system for NTT DoCoMo’s DoPa service. PPPush, initially launched in November of 2002, makes it possible to remotely activate, or “wake up,” mobile devices (such as PDAs) to perform activities like updating inventory information or delivering e-mail. The PPPush server, located inside the corporation, remotely activates the WakeOnRing PPPush manager on PDAs equipped with a Compact Flash communications card (DoPa Max CF card). This action powers-up the device and initiates applications that have been defined by the user. One important feature in the new version is the capability to broadcast to multiple devices via the NTT DoCoMo M-Stage data center. Another key feature is a return-receipt notification option to acknowledge successful data delivery, such as e-mail, to mobile devices. Broadcast and Acknowledgement features via M-stage guarantee reliable push transmission that is essential for business use. PPPush 1.1 uses the DoPa (DoCoMo Packet Transmission) network to communicate with PDAs equipped with a CF card. The DoPa network has effectively 100% coverage in Japan, so it is well suited for transmitting mission critical information. The first version provided coverage only in the more limited PHS network, It has a robust security system that includes two-way authentication and optional encryption. Also, it can be readily integrated with other applications through its easy to use API. This service is currently available in Japan. The cost is ¥198,000 (approximately $1,675.00) for the server software and ¥2,000 (approximately $17.00) per user device registered to that server.
